Melissa is carefully steam distilled from the flowering tops of the Melissa officinalis plant.

As the density of the oil is close to that of water, cohobation is used to achieve the highest yield and quality from the plant. There are several varieties of Melissa in Bulgaria including; Citronella type, Citral (Lemonella) type, Quedlinburger, and many more. As there are two harvests per year for essential oil with varying qualities, it is important to know our customers quality requirements before sampling.
